When this was announced a couple of days ago it peaked my interest as an old school Silent Hill fan. I’ve played an finished the first to games. After that my history is spotty but I’ve played more of the games then not so I was looking forward to this. Let’s get into my thoughts on this “Transmission”.
Silent Hill 2 Remake
As an old school Silent Hill fan I’ve been somewhat conflicted since this remake has been announced. I’ve been very back an forth when it comes to hype for this game. Honestly the more I’ve scene the more worried I’ve gotten. This presentation managed to calm a lot of those worries but still left one pretty big issue I have.
Now with that out of the way about Silent Hill 2. I liked a lot of what I saw. I thought the cut scene’s were done extremely well and did a great job of capturing the originals atmosphere. This may actually be the strongest part of what I’ve seen of the remake thus far with is good considering the history of the original. Blooper team has been a bit all over to place with the quality of there games for me so it’s good to see they got this right.
I also thought this deep dive into game play helped smash one big worry I had with this remake. There was a trailer before this that seemed to show a lot of gun combat and that had me a bit worried. I’m glad to see like the original that’s just a small slice of the combat and that we aren’t getting a resident evil style combat here. One of the things the original did well was making you feel like just some guy and I’m glad to see that repeated here.
Let me quickly address one thing. I’ve scene a lot of discourse on line about the voice acting, particularly with Angela(the dark haired women for those who didn’t play the original). I’ve actually not had an issue with the voice acting at all. It seems pretty in line with what I expect from the series and again as an old school fan I like what I’ve scene.

Now I’ve been very critical of what we’ve seen of the game so far as the performance of the gameplay has looked a bit rough. Sadly it still appears that’s an issue here. To me it still came off rather choppy. I can only hope that this is an old build which is a common thing in game play previews. With the release date in October I have no choice to take a wait a see approach here but maybe we will get a more stable slice between then and now.
Return To Silent Hill

I’d hesitate to call what we got here with “return to silent hill” a deep dive. It was mostly just the Director Christophe Gans comments on the film was with some backstage stuff spliced in a cut scene here or there. I’m looking forward to this as I’ve actually enjoyed the other two silent hill films. Hopefully the third is good as well. Unfortunately there’s not much else to say about this
Where was SIlent Hill F and Townfall?
My biggest grip with this presentation over all is the lack of anything not silent hill 2. We still have two games in Silent Hill f and Silent Hill Townfall we know next to nothing about. Silent Hill F managed to really peek my interest last year and all we really know is it’s set in japan. Details about Townfall even less then that as all we know is it’s a survival game. We’ve seen a trailer but much like F it didn’t show us anything.
Closing Thoughts
Regardless of the lack of anything Silent Hill 2 an collectable pre orders I’m glad to say I’m mostly hyped for Silent Hill 2 remake again. I tend to not encourage pre-orders and I’d do the same here. Apart from down right terrible reviews this game is a day one buy for me on October the 8th of this year which for 70$ is a hard sell for me. I’ve only spent 70$ on one game so far and Diablo 4 managed to disappoint me as soon as season one details were revealed. I hope that Blooper Team manages to pull off the fine line that needs to be walked with this remake. This is a rare time where a mostly one to one remake is needed and it appears that’s what were getting.
How do you feel about this? Are you as worried as I’ve been in the past? Are you looking forward to this game? Will you be getting it on Steam or Playstation? Sound off in the comments.
