It has been announced via the Blizzard website that Overwatch 2 is coming to Gamepass on September 17th. Now you might be asking yourself “Isn’t that free to play?” and you’d be correct, however that’s not exactly whats going on. Starting on September 17th when you link your Blizzard account to your Gamepass account you will be given a whole host of benefits which are listed below.

• Six hero skins: Cardboard Reinhardt, Turtleship DVa, Cyberdragon Hanzo, Street Runner Genji, Bee Mercy, and Cleric Lifeweaver.
• 30 Mythic Prisms
• Additional 10% XP boost
• Access to select Overwatch 2 Shop cosmetics from the past three seasons
In regards to the cosmetic benefits you don’t just get access to select cosmetics from the past 3 seasons, but going forward they will be adding new cosmetics you can gain access to with each new season. This along with the 10% XP boost, 6 hero skins and 30 prisims makes linking your accounts basically a no brainier if you’re an Overwatch 2 fan.
All tiers of Gamepass have access to these benefits so whether you’re on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, Xbox Game Pass for Console, or PC Game Pass you will be able to enjoy these benefits at no extra cost apart from the cost of your subscription. Important to note is you only have until November 11th to claim said benefits, which is less then 2 months in total. Instructions on how to link your Battle network account to whatever Gamepass account you may have can be found below.
How to Link Accounts
- Navigate to your Battle.net Account Connections page.
- Next to Xbox Network, make sure the Xbox Account with your eligible Game Pass subscription is listed.
- If the correct account is linked, you are good to go!
- If no account is listed, click the +Connect button to initiate the linking process
- Ensure you are linking the correct account; account links have cooldowns limiting how often they can be changed. Customer Support cannot assist with bypassing cooldowns on linking accounts.
- If the wrong Xbox Account is listed and it has been more than 1-year since the accounts were linked:
- Click Disconnect
- Click +Connect to initiate the linking process for the correct Xbox Account
- If the wrong Xbox Account is listed and the link cooldown has not yet expired, you will need to use a new or different Battle.net Account to link to your Xbox Account.
