Earlier this year CI Games let it unofficially be known via a filing with Polish site Bankier that they are working on a Lords Of The Fallen follow up. Today they have released their financials for the first half of the year along with an upcoming road made that has confirmed publicly that they are indeed making the sequel as well as a new instalment in their popular Sniper Ghost Warrior franchise.
Within the financials CI Games outlined their upcoming road map for 2025-2028 and among things like working with Epic game for exclusivity is the fact the HEXWORKS, who is owned by CI Games and worked on the forst Lords Of The Fallen is working on the follow up to the game.
Other interesting details about the game found in the report is that it will indeed be developed in Unreal Engine 5 and that for the first half of 2024 Lords Of The Fallen has made up 72% of the company’s revenue so it’s no wonder they’d want to keep the franchise going.
Lords Of The Fallen released on October 13th, 2023, to somewhat Lukewarm reception gaining a decent score on PC and Xbox of 77 and 78 but falling to a 70 on ps5. Regardless, it looks like CI Games is happy with the money the first game made and wants to keep it going.
Sniper Ghost Warrior Evolved
Also in the financial report was some details about CI’s other major IP, Sniper Ghost Warrior. While no major details were shared we know the game is in pre-production and is currently slated to release in 2027.
The biggest news however is that the series is switching to Unreal Engine 5. The series is known for using the CryEngine so this is a curious development decision to say the least.
The Sniper series has long proven popular despite its critical reception. In 2021 CI Games CEO stated that the franchise had sold over 11 million units across all its games, a remarkable feat for a AA game. The series has also seen a change of pace with the previous 2 games. Sniper Ghost Warrior 1-3 were a more traditional shooter where as Contracts 1 and 2 were much more similar to a Hitman style of game.
Wherever they decide to go with both Lords Of The Fallen and Sniper Ghost Warrior next I’m sure fans will have their eyes on them.
